October Updates

I shared two modo renders of mine this month! Well, a final image and a WIP. The first was ‘Steam Iron’, my imagining of a steampunky soldering iron.

My steampunk based soldering iron design.

and the second was a character design WIP. The ‘Pumpkin King’ (Pumpking?). Happy Halloween!!

My original character design - the Pumpkin King.

Speaking of the spookiest night of the year, here are some photos of our Halloween activities!

Pumpkin Jack.

Our Jack-O-Lantern. Thanks to @Facenna for carving him and giving him life!

I baked the seeds of the Pumpkin! Coated with melted butter, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Yum!

July Updates

July has been a month of extreme happiness. One extreme low, but otherwise fab. It was my 18th birthday on the 9th, and I received many great gifts, including a Cintiq 12WX, and a personalised rap from the president of Luxology, Brad Peebler, on the wonderful modcast! WOW!

This month, I completed two new images;

One Year of modo!

What had I just done exactly one year ago?  Something very special, that’s what!

The date was 16th May 2009 and, after months of saving, I was finally able to buy the great 3D software from Luxology, modo! What a happy day that was!! It was in the second half of the modo 401 roll out, and so I was actually buying 302 at that point. 401 did not release until 18th June 2009.

My Luxology forum avatar for the past year. A modonaut I am!

To celebrate my 1st modo anniversary, I have a little project planned for a release this week, along with the completion of a new final image. Nothing really special, but I just thought I’d mention my pleasure at this happy occasion and fond memory. 😀

I’ll release those two little projects when complete. modo WIP forum watchers will already know about the image that’s coming. 🙂

Scuppered Servers…

Hello JedBlog Readers! You may have noticed that the old address of the JedBlog no longer exists, but, never fear, because it is back to it’s original location! My Blog now at http://www.3dsc.facennafineart.com/jedblog/ (here), So please update bookmarks etc.

No need to resubscribe, but if you haven’t yet subscribed, but would like to, see here:  Subscribe.

Files Compromised.

Now – for the curious amongst you, The reason that the JedBlog has moved for the second time was, again, out of my control. We at the Facenna household had two servers, and my blog was on one, my site on the other. We found the whole blog server completely emptied of all of it’s contents last week. The service provider said it was foul play from a third party, and they said that the “the information has been compromised”, but I’m not sure that I believe that. At any rate, the files have gone.

However, learning from my experiences of the past, I luckily had a back up from Jan 2010, and I have successfully restored it. Please enjoy.

The interim posts have been manually reinstated, some from the feed, one painstakingly decoded from a mangled version in my cache.

Thank you for your patience, and your continued interest in the JedBlog. Hopefully it will go smoothly from now! 🙂

The Handlink

I’ve always been a huge fan of Quantum Leap, and for the same amount of time I have been fascinated (you could say obsessed ;p) with the Handlink. The handheld device that Al uses to communicate with Ziggy (the hybrid computer with the big ego) from the Imaging Chamber. This particular one is the “Gummy Bear” version used from “The Great Spontini” in Season three, right through to the final episode, “Mirror Image” in Season 5.

I have attempted many physical replicas of this most infamous prop, Including this most recent one (when I was 14):

But all of them lacked in strength, and the proper electronics. So I turned to another medium – that would allow me to replicate the Handlink much more closely. Digital 3D using modo 401!

Here are my latest 3D works:

Hope you enjoy this “Rotten pile of gummy bears” as Al calls it! LOL!
