One Year of modo!

What had I just done exactly one year ago?  Something very special, that’s what!

The date was 16th May 2009 and, after months of saving, I was finally able to buy the great 3D software from Luxology, modo! What a happy day that was!! It was in the second half of the modo 401 roll out, and so I was actually buying 302 at that point. 401 did not release until 18th June 2009.

My Luxology forum avatar for the past year. A modonaut I am!

To celebrate my 1st modo anniversary, I have a little project planned for a release this week, along with the completion of a new final image. Nothing really special, but I just thought I’d mention my pleasure at this happy occasion and fond memory. 😀

I’ll release those two little projects when complete. modo WIP forum watchers will already know about the image that’s coming. 🙂

The Handlink

I’ve always been a huge fan of Quantum Leap, and for the same amount of time I have been fascinated (you could say obsessed ;p) with the Handlink. The handheld device that Al uses to communicate with Ziggy (the hybrid computer with the big ego) from the Imaging Chamber. This particular one is the “Gummy Bear” version used from “The Great Spontini” in Season three, right through to the final episode, “Mirror Image” in Season 5.

I have attempted many physical replicas of this most infamous prop, Including this most recent one (when I was 14):

But all of them lacked in strength, and the proper electronics. So I turned to another medium – that would allow me to replicate the Handlink much more closely. Digital 3D using modo 401!

Here are my latest 3D works:

Hope you enjoy this “Rotten pile of gummy bears” as Al calls it! LOL!
